Policies

Homework:   Reminder: This is a math class.  Homework will be given OFTEN.  You are expected to do all assignments yourself.  Do NOT copy homework from a classmate. You must SHOW ALL WORK!!!  No points will be awarded for only answers.  At the top right hand corner of each paper, PRINT your name (first and last), date, period.  On the top center of the paper, write the assignment title.

Note:  Homework will be graded at the beginning of each class period.

Pop Quiz:       On occasion, I will give a pop quiz. You will not always know the day I will give these. Stay up to date on your notes and keep up with any/all absent work.

Late Work:    No Late Work is accepted AT ALL. You may make up any late work assignments at Saturday school for up to 60%. This does not include making up work for excused absences or school events.

Binder:           You will be expected to keep a binder that includes your 1) notes, 2) assignments, and

3) quizzes/exams for the class.  This needs to be a 1½ inch binder. You will need 3 binder dividers. Keep a stock of notebook paper in the binder. We will use the binder EVERY DAY. Bring it to class EVERY DAY.

Exams:           Exams will be given at the end of each unit. You will be notified in advance when there is an upcoming exam. If you keep good track of all your notes and assignments, like you should, you will have all the necessary study material for each exam.

Tardies:         A student is tardy unless he/she is in their seat when the bell stops ringing.  On the third tardy, you will receive 4 days of lunch detention and a call will be made to your parent/guardian.  Please be on time.

Absences/

Makeup Work:

  • You MUST come to tutorial (7:40 to 8:05) to get EXCUSED absent work the day you return to school, and to turn in and/or grade completed homework that was due the day of the EXCUSED absence!
  • School Activities - All work due on the day of a school activity will be turned in before the student leaves.  Any assignments covered the day the student is gone will be due two days after the absence.  I recommend speaking with me before the absence.
  • Excused Absences – For each day absent the assignment will be due two days after the absence. You are responsible to get all make up work from the teacher.
  • Unexcused Absences- You may NOT make up assignments and exams missed when an absence is unexcused!
  • Makeup exam- Please try not to be absent the day of an exam!  If you know ahead of time you will not be present the day of the test, please notify me so we can make proper arrangements, e.g. take the exam an earlier date.  If you are absent for an exam you will need to make it up before school, during tutorial.

Restroom

Policy:            You should only ask to leave my classroom for emergencies.  If you so choose to ask for permission, then you will be required to make up 10 minutes during tutorial within two days.  If you fail to make up the time, you will be assigned lunch detention and a parent will be called.  NO EXCEPTIONS!!!  Please take care of your business during the passing times.

Cell Phones:  When you enter my classroom, you will get a calculator (if you don’t have your own) from the numbered slot that coincides with your class number. In its place, you will “park” your phone in the slot. Your cell phone will stay here during the remainder of the class period.
